Chapter Eighty-three "Phoenix in His Arms"
The Truth Unfolds
"Sir, Ma’am, there’s something you need
to know! They have been hiding the truth from everyone! Professor Taehyung and
Jungkook are in a relationship, which is against university rules! This is why
I said they should be expelled. We cannot allow such disgrace—"
"Shut up."
The sharp, commanding voice of Mrs. Kim echoed
through the room, cutting Jenny off abruptly.
Everyone froze in place, their eyes widening
in disbelief. They had never seen Mrs. Kim this furious before—she had always
been the calm and charming lady of the university, known for her warmth and grace.
But now, her eyes burned with an intensity that made Jenny take an involuntary
step back.
Silence filled the hall as Mrs. Kim’s presence
dominated the room, her gaze cold and unyielding as she stared down at Jenny.
Just then, Jungkook, who had been standing
motionless until now, suddenly stepped forward. His eyes were glistening, his
body trembling from the overwhelming emotions he had kept bottled up.
Without warning, he rushed toward Mrs. Kim and
wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tightly.
Tears spilled down his cheeks as he finally
let go of the composure he had been holding onto so desperately. "Momma…
Hyungie told everyone…"
A collective gasp filled the hall.
Shock rippled through the crowd, but none were
more stunned than Jenny herself. Her face drained of color as realization hit
her—Mrs. Kim was not just another faculty member or a distant authority figure.
She was their mother.
And that meant that everything she had fought
so hard to expose had just crumbled before her eyes.
Mrs. Kim gently stroked Jungkook’s hair,
pressing a soft kiss on top of his head to soothe him. "It’s okay, baby.
I’m here."
Taehyung approached them, his dark gaze locked
onto Jenny, then shifted towards his parents. "Mom? Dad? Why are you both
here like this?"
Mr. Kim exhaled sharply, his voice steady but
firm. "I received a call some time ago from an unknown number, claiming
there was an inappropriate relationship between a professor and his younger
brother. We suspected it was about you two, so we came as soon as
possible."
Taehyung’s jaw tightened. His eyes scanned the
room before addressing the crowd. "Who made the call?"
Silence. No one dared to answer.
Mr. Kim narrowed his eyes and took out his
phone, dialing the number back. The hall fell into hushed anticipation as
Jenny’s phone suddenly rang, shattering the silence. Gasps echoed as everyone
turned their gaze toward her.
Jenny stiffened, gripping her phone as if it
would somehow save her from the impending consequences.
"Care to explain?" Mr. Kim’s voice
was dangerously low.
Taehyung crossed his arms. "Let me fill
in the blanks," he said smoothly, his tone laced with sarcasm.
"Jenny, desperate for my attention, followed me everywhere. She hid
cameras in my office, violating my privacy. She waited for the right moment to
expose personal footage, thinking it would ruin me." His anger clear in
his words.
The screen behind them flickered, revealing
video footage. Jenny’s own movements played out in front of everyone—her
sneaking into Taehyung’s office, carefully setting up the hidden camera, and
leaving with a smug grin.
Gasps and whispers filled the hall as
professors exchanged glances, some shaking their heads in disbelief while
others muttered about how disgraceful Jenny’s actions were.
"I can’t believe this…"
"She went this far just to ruin
him?"
"How disgusting."
Mrs. Kim’s fury peaked. She pulled away from
Jungkook and stormed toward Jenny, raising her hand and slapping her across the
face. The loud impact resounded through the room, making Jenny stumble
backward.
"How dare you?!" Mrs. Kim hissed.
"How dare you make my baby cry?! How dare you expose my sons’ private
moments like this?! You disgust me!"
Taehyung swiftly moved to his mother’s side,
placing a firm hand on her shoulder to hold her back. "Mom, calm down.
It’s not worth it."
"I agree," a male professor spoke
up, stepping forward. "Professor Jenny’s actions are inexcusable.
Regardless of what she thought was happening, placing hidden cameras in a
faculty member’s office is a severe violation of privacy."
"Exactly," another professor chimed
in. "This university values its integrity. Professor Jenny, you have
overstepped your bounds."
A few, however, still looked uncertain,
shifting uncomfortably. "But… a professor being in a relationship with a
student—"
"Enough." Mr. Kim’s authoritative
voice cut through the room, silencing the murmurs. "Let me make this clear
to everyone—Taehyung is my son, the future president of this university.
Jungkook is my son-in-law, more like a second son to us, and the future vice
president. They are untouchable. Throwing them out? That is out of the
question."
The entire hall fell into stunned silence as
reality sank in.
Jenny’s plan had not only failed—it had
backfired spectacularly. Many professors who had been quick to condemn Taehyung
and Jungkook now exchanged awkward glances, realizing how wrong they had been
to jump to conclusions.
One professor sighed, rubbing his temples.
"We made a mistake assuming things without confirmation."
"It’s embarrassing how quickly we
judged," another muttered.
Professor Yoongi, who had been quiet until
now, smirked. "Well, this turned out to be quite the show, huh?"
Hoseok chuckled, shaking his head. "And
here I thought today would be boring."
Professor Seokjin grinned, crossing his arms.
"Well, lovebirds, looks like you’re finally free to be yourselves."
Jenny, meanwhile, stood frozen, her world
crumbling around her. She had lost. And there was no way to recover from this.
She could only watch as Taehyung and Jungkook
stood together, unshaken and victorious.
