Chapter Fifty-Eight "Phoenix in His Arms"

The Mystery Card Game and a Shocking Proposal

The energy in the hall crackled with excitement as Professor Jenny stepped onto the podium, her elegant gown flowing gracefully as she held the microphone. She smiled warmly at the crowd, her voice dripping with charm as she addressed the students and faculty alike.

"Welcome again, everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the party so far," she began, her eyes scanning the hall. "To make things even more interesting, we’re going to play a little game called Mystery Cards!"

A wave of enthusiastic cheers erupted through the crowd.

"The rules are simple," she continued. "Each person will come up, pick a card from this box, and complete the task written on it—no backing out!" Her eyes gleamed mischievously. "And yes, that includes our dear professors as well!"

Loud cheers and laughter followed, and soon, the game began.

Students went up one by one, completing their tasks amid laughter and playful teasing. The excitement doubled when it was finally time for the professors to participate.

The first professor to step up was none other than Professor Jung Hoseok.

He reached into the box, pulling out a card and reading it aloud. "Compliment the person you find most beautiful tonight."

A hush fell over the room as everyone eagerly waited for his answer. Hoseok hummed in thought, then smirked before turning toward Niki.

"Well, I hate to admit it," he began, crossing his arms, "but despite being a complete brat most of the time, Niki is actually looking really beautiful tonight."

A wave of loud hoots and applause followed, while Niki sat frozen in shock. The normally confident girl was at a loss for words, her cheeks heating up as she stared at Hoseok in disbelief.

The next moment, laughter and clapping filled the room. "Come on, say something!" Jimin nudged her.

Still stunned, Niki only managed to mumble, "Uh… thanks?"

Hoseok chuckled before stepping down, thoroughly enjoying the rare moment of Niki being speechless.

Next up was Professor Min Yoongi.

He lazily strolled up to the podium and pulled a card. Reading the task, he smirked. "Perform a short dance with someone of your choice."

Yoongi exhaled dramatically. "I don’t know about others, but Jimin’s from the Music Department, and I know him better than the rest."

The crowd erupted in cheers as Jimin’s eyes widened in surprise. "W-What?!"

Before he could protest, Yoongi grabbed his wrist and pulled him onto the stage. The music started, and Yoongi, despite claiming to be bad at dancing, matched Jimin’s movements surprisingly well. Their small performance earned thunderous applause, but Jimin was left completely red in the face, covering his flushed cheeks as he quickly returned to his seat.

One by one, the tasks continued, making the party even more lively. But then, the next name was called.

Jeon Jungkook.

Jungkook confidently made his way to the podium and picked a card. The moment he read it, a mischievous smirk played on his lips.

"Perform a seductive dance."

The crowd went wild. Excitement surged through the air as the music switched to a sultry beat.

Jungkook stepped onto the dance floor, his body moving with effortless grace and power. His hips swayed perfectly in rhythm, his fluid yet sensual movements drawing gasps from the crowd. His smoldering expressions, the way his shirt clung to his sculpted figure, and the teasing glimpses of his collarbones made half the men in the room shift uncomfortably in their seats while the women openly swooned.

The moment felt electrified, the room suffocating with heated gazes fixated on Jungkook.

But the most intense gaze of all belonged to Kim Taehyung.

Sitting at the professors' table, Taehyung had initially maintained his cold composure. But as Jungkook's sinful dance continued, his grip on his wine glass tightened. The sound of breathy sighs from both men and women irritated him beyond belief. The way their eyes followed every movement of Jungkook’s body ignited a dangerous fire in his chest.

He's mine.

He clenched his jaw, his fingers tightening further around the glass until—

CRACK.

The glass in his hand shattered.

A sharp pain shot through his palm as blood trickled down his fingers, but Taehyung barely noticed. His burning eyes remained locked on Jungkook, dark and possessive. How the hell am I supposed to control myself when he looks like that?

Just as Jungkook finished his performance with a smug smirk, the next name was called.

Professor Jenny.

She confidently walked onto the stage, her beautiful gown flowing as she picked a card. A devious smile formed on her lips as she read it.

"Propose to someone in the room."

Gasps and excited murmurs filled the air, but Jenny had already made up her mind.

With a poised elegance, she picked up a single red rose from the nearest vase and turned toward a specific person.

Kim Taehyung.

A collective gasp ran through the room as she walked toward him, her heels clicking against the floor with each step. The room fell silent, all eyes now focused on the unexpected scene unfolding.

Jenny reached Taehyung’s table, gracefully lowering herself onto one knee. Her gown pooled around her as she lifted the rose toward him, her expression soft and filled with affection.

"Taehyung," she spoke in a gentle yet confident tone, "from the moment I met you, I knew you were someone special. Strong, intelligent, and undeniably handsome. I can't imagine anyone more perfect to stand by my side."

The audience was completely engrossed, some whispering among themselves, others watching in pure anticipation.

But Taehyung?

His entire expression remained unreadable.

Not a flicker of emotion. Not even the smallest change in his cold, dark eyes.

A suffocating silence settled over the room as everyone waited for his response.

The tension was thick.
