Chapter Sixty-five "Phoenix in His Arms"
Unwanted Attention
When Jungkook stepped onto the university
grounds, he knew something was off. The usual atmosphere had shifted, and the
way students were looking at him made his skin crawl.
“What the hell…” he muttered under his breath
as he walked beside Jimin, Niki, and Soobin.
He wasn’t prepared for the way girls—and
some boys—were suddenly surrounding him, their eyes gleaming with excitement.
They whispered among themselves, giggling, stealing glances at him, and some
were even bold enough to try and strike up a conversation.
“Jungkook, do you want to study together
sometime?” a girl asked, batting her lashes.
“Or maybe grab a coffee after class?” another
one suggested, inching closer.
Jungkook sighed, feeling suffocated. Since
when did I become this popular? He knew the reason, of course. The pictures
Taehyung had revealed the previous day had caused an uproar. His connection
with Taehyung was now public knowledge, and everyone wanted a piece of him—some
for personal interest, others hoping to use him as a way to get close to
Taehyung.
He noticed some envious glances being thrown
at Jimin, Niki, and Soobin. The three of them had been visibly cared for by
Taehyung during the ordeal, and that alone was enough to make others jealous.
“Guess I’ve become a celebrity overnight,”
Jungkook grumbled.
Jimin snickered. “Well, your ‘supposed big
brother’ really threw you under the spotlight.”
Niki giggled. “I mean, it’s kinda fun seeing
you suffer.”
Soobin simply patted Jungkook’s shoulder.
“Stay strong.”
Jungkook groaned. He wasn’t in the mood for
this—especially not after what had happened between him and Taehyung. He was
already struggling with the memories, the embarrassment of his actions haunting
him. He had been avoiding Taehyung ever since the incident, unable to face him.
How could I, after all that?
“Guys, I need to go to my lecture. See you
later,” Jungkook said hastily, taking the chance to escape.
“Good luck running from your fan club,” Jimin
teased as Jungkook waved them off.
He quickened his pace, dodging the students
still trailing behind him. As soon as he reached his classroom, he immediately
headed for the last bench, sinking into his seat with a sigh. At least I can
hide here.
But as he sat there, his heart pounded. He
knew exactly who was going to walk through that door any moment now.
And he wasn’t ready to face Taehyung yet.
Taehyung entered the classroom with his usual
cold and composed demeanor, his sharp gaze sweeping over the students before he
placed his books on the desk. Without wasting time, he started taking
attendance, his deep voice calling out names one by one.
Jungkook kept his head low, gripping his pen
tightly, hoping Taehyung wouldn’t pay him any attention. But he could feel the
man’s presence, that same suffocating authority he carried wherever he went.
As the lecture began, everything seemed to be
going smoothly—until Sia, a girl who had been obsessed with Taehyung since the
first day, started interrupting the class.
“Professor Kim, I have a doubt.”
Taehyung looked at her, nodding for her to
continue. She asked her question, but just as he answered, she immediately
raised another one.
And then another.
And another.
It quickly became evident that she wasn’t
actually struggling with the subject—she was just using it as an excuse to grab
Taehyung’s attention. The desperation in her eyes made Jungkook grit his teeth
in irritation.
Taehyung, ever patient, finally exhaled deeply
and gave her a pointed look. “Sia, if you have so many doubts, mark them down
and come to my cabin later. I’ll answer all your questions then.”
She seemed satisfied with that response,
giving him a bright smile, but Jungkook cursed under his breath. She’s so
damn desperate.
He clenched his fists under the desk, feeling
an unfamiliar wave of annoyance surge through him. Why was he getting so frustrated?
Why did it bother him so much that she was trying to get Taehyung’s
attention?
Jungkook had answers.
Why not!!!! His Taehyungie Hyungie Hyung is
his only. Not some Gia-Tia can get him.
He doesn't know what to do.
All he knew was that this day was turning out
to be even more irritating than he had anticipated.
