Chapter Sixty-three "Phoenix in His Arms"
Damage Control
The next morning, Phoenix Ridge University was
buzzing with murmurs and gossip. The fresher’s party had been a night to
remember, but it had also left behind quite the mess. The scandalous events,
the unexpected confessions, and the wild behavior of some students had caused
quite a stir among both students and faculty.
Professor Kim Taehyung arrived at the
university earlier than usual, his sharp gaze scanning the students who either
looked guilty, amused, or outright clueless. He was not in the mood for
nonsense, especially after the chaos Jungkook and Niki had caused last night.
His jaw clenched slightly as he recalled the amount of self-control he had to
exercise just to get Jungkook off him.
As he walked through the corridors, a few
professors approached him, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity.
“Professor Kim,” one of them called, adjusting
his glasses. “I heard that things got a little... out of hand at the party.”
Taehyung shot him a blank look. “That’s an
understatement.”
“I heard a few students made quite a
scene—especially a certain first-year who was—”
“Handled,” Taehyung cut him off coldly. “If
anyone has complaints, they can come to my office. Otherwise, I suggest we
focus on our work.”
The professor quickly nodded, stepping aside
as Taehyung made his way toward the principal’s office.
Inside, Principal Namjoon was already waiting,
arms crossed as he leaned against his desk. Seokjin stood beside him, sipping
his coffee with an amused expression.
“You look like you had a rough night,” Seokjin
commented. “Something you want to share?”
Taehyung sighed, running a hand through his
hair. “I don’t even know where to start.”
Namjoon raised a brow. “Try from the part
where a student confessed in the middle of the party and one tried to strip on
the dance floor.”
Seokjin choked on his coffee. “Excuse me,
what?”
Taehyung groaned. “It’s not what it sounds
like.”
Namjoon smirked. “Oh? Because it sounds like
you had quite the night.”
Taehyung shot him a glare before exhaling
sharply. “Someone drugged Jungkook and Niki last night.”
The amusement in Namjoon’s eyes vanished
instantly. “What?”
Seokjin straightened, his playful expression
now replaced with concern. “Are they okay?”
“They’ll be fine. I made sure they got home
safely,” Taehyung reassured. “But I need to find out who did it. I’ve already
made a call to get answers.”
Namjoon nodded, his mind already working
through the implications. “If someone did this at a university event, it’s
serious. We can’t let it slide.”
“I won’t,” Taehyung said firmly. “I’ll handle
it.”
Namjoon studied him for a moment before
sighing and pulling out his phone. “You might want to handle it fast.
Everything is already going viral in the university’s student group.”
Taehyung frowned, stepping closer to glance at
Namjoon’s phone. Sure enough, multiple posts, images, and videos from last
night’s party were circulating among the students. Clips of Niki’s drunken
confession, Jungkook’s wild dance, and even Taehyung carrying Jungkook out of
the hall were being shared with exaggerated captions.
Seokjin whistled lowly. “Well, that escalated
quickly.”
Taehyung clenched his jaw, already irritated.
“Call everyone to the announcement hall. I will clarify the matter myself.”
Namjoon gave a firm nod before picking up the
intercom, his voice soon echoing throughout the university halls.
“All students and faculty are requested to
gather in the announcement hall immediately.”
The murmurs grew louder outside the office as
students and professors alike began making their way to the hall. Taehyung
straightened his posture, preparing to address the crowd.
Whoever was responsible for last night’s
mess—he would make sure they regretted it.
The
Announcement
The grand announcement hall was packed,
students whispering amongst themselves while the faculty tried to maintain
order. The moment Taehyung stepped inside, the entire room fell silent. All
eyes were fixed on him as he walked towards the podium, his posture straight,
his face unreadable.
Clearing his throat, he finally spoke in a
calm yet deep voice, “I don’t think I need to explain why this sudden
announcement was made.”
The weight of his words settled over the hall
as anticipation thickened the air. He continued, his expression composed yet
firm.
“There are a few matters circulating from last
night, and I will clarify them one by one.” His eyes scanned the audience,
lingering for a moment on a few guilty-looking faces.
“Okay, first doubt—whether I am really married
or if I just made up a story to avoid Professor Jenny’s confession.” A few
chuckles echoed in the hall. Taehyung’s expression remained indifferent.
“My answer is simple—I don’t think I need to
share my private life with you all. It’s none of your business.”
A ripple of murmurs ran through the crowd,
some amused, some disappointed. Jenny, who was sitting stiffly in the front
row, clenched her fists, her face turning red with embarrassment.
“Second question—who is Jungkook to me? What
is going on between us?”
The students collectively held their breath,
knowing this was the real question on everyone’s mind. Taehyung let out a
mocking chuckle.
“Well, about this... it’s not the first time
you guys have caused a commotion over this, is it?” His lips curled up slightly
in amusement.
Some students shifted awkwardly in their
seats, recalling past incidents where the rumor mill had run wild about their
relationship.
“I won’t explain anything this time.” His
voice was smooth but teasing. “Maybe... I’ll just show you all some photos, and
I hope you’ll get your answers.”
Gasps echoed through the hall as the
anticipation grew tenfold. Students exchanged wide-eyed glances, eager to see
what he meant. Jenny’s face paled further, while others barely contained their
excitement.
Taehyung remained still, letting the tension
build as he reached for his phone.
“Let’s clear up some things, shall we?”
