Chapter 86 || BOUND AND TORN BY PROPHECIES

 The Rain of Revelation

The echo of hurried footsteps shattered the heavy silence of the palace’s main corridor. Guards glanced at one another in alarm, then turned toward the source—a single armoured figure running at full speed, his boots clanging against stone. The great doors of the courtroom, where the king, queen, council members, Yoongi, and Nyla had gathered, burst open with a thunderous slam.

The guard stopped at the threshold, chest heaving, sweat dripping from his brow. "Forgive me! Forgive my intrusion!" he gasped.

The room fell into stunned silence.

"What is it?" barked one of the council elders.

The guard straightened slightly. "The eggs... a lot of them. They’ve hatched. More than half of all that were in the royal nesting grounds. I—I didn’t know what to do. It happened so suddenly during the storm. So I came to report."

Shock rippled through the court like a wave crashing against ancient stone.

Before the murmurs could settle, more footsteps approached. A group of ministers rushed in, their robes soaked with rain. "Your Majesties! Council! It’s not just the royal cave. A lot of eggs across our territories have hatched! Even those long thought infertile. It’s a miracle."

"Did the Crown Prince... choose a mate?" one of the ministers asked hesitantly, glancing around.

The council exchanged wary glances, then stood. "We must confirm this ourselves. Come. To the dragon chamber. We must ensure the hatchlings are cared for."

The ministers and guards followed them out quickly, leaving behind the king, queen, Yoongi, and Nyla, who stood frozen.

Nyla’s voice broke the silence first, barely a whisper. "Taehyung would never mate Vaelora." Yoongi’s brows furrowed, his voice thick with confusion. "He wouldn’t have mated anyone... not like this. It’s only been a week since we lost Jungkook. And Mili is weak. He froze Vaelora yesterday just for bringing up that topic."

The king's face was pale, unreadable. "Something is wrong." Without another word, the queen turned and ran. "We need to find Taehyung. Now."

Guards were summoned instantly, and the order was given to search the palace. But the royal couple, Nyla and Yoongi, already had one destination in mind.

They headed swiftly, silently, toward Jungkook’s room—the place Taehyung had not left for an entire week.

But they did not find Taehyung there.

As confusion mounted, a guard approached quickly, saluting before speaking. "Your Majesties... one of the outer guards stationed near the dragon chamber said he saw the Crown Prince enter there yesterday. He hasn’t seen him come out since."

A chill swept through them.

"He’s still in there?" Nyla asked.

They moved quickly, arriving at the dragon chamber. What they saw deepened their dread.

The massive doors were locked from the inside. Every curtain on the towering windows was drawn tightly shut. The entire place was sealed like a tomb.

Nyla stepped forward, her eyes glowing as she whispered a spell. The locks gave way with a reluctant groan. The doors creaked open.

They stepped inside.

And froze.

There, curled like an ancient sentinel, was a massive snow-white dragon. Its scales shimmered faintly, haloed in a ghostly blue glow. The dragon's sapphire eyes stared unblinking at the still form lying beneath its wing—Mili.

She was cradled gently, as if wrapped in mourning silk. No longer pale or gasping, her form glowed softly. Peaceful. Still.

"She’s not sleeping," the king murmured, voice hoarse. "She’s dead." The queen pressed a trembling hand to her mouth. "That white ancient dragon form... is Taehyung." Nyla’s breath hitched. "Is that... a royal egg?" Near them, on the rumpled dragon bedding, lay a blue-glowing egg pulsing gently in the dim light.

Yoongi took a step forward. "Taehyung?" he called softly.

No response.

He turned to the Nyla. "Take the egg. Carefully. If something happens... it can be harmed." Nyla used her vines, guiding the egg gently toward the door. She handed it off to a trembling guard. "Take it to the royal egg chamber. Guard it with your life."

The others watched, unable to speak. "What’s happening to him?" Yoongi asked, his voice barely audible. The queen’s eyes were brimming. "He mated her. In his dragon form. To hatch the eggs. She wasn’t strong enough... she gave everything."

The king’s face twisted with agony. "And Taehyung... He’s like this because of the curse. We thought he was forgiven when he crossed dimensions. But the curse waited. It took him the moment he broke completely. After Jungkook, he had Mili. But when he lost both..."

"The curse consumed him," Nyla finished, voice raw.

"Can we free him?" she asked.

The king looked toward the heavens. "Only if we understand the curse. Call the Seer."

Moments later, the Seer arrived, cloaked and solemn. He approached the curled white dragon, eyes flickering. Then turned to them.

"They were never meant to be together in this life. He is locked in memory. Frozen in grief. He holds their soul, refusing to let go. He’s blinded. The curse feeds on this. He will kill anyone who tries to take her. There is only one way. The souls must be freed. Only then will they be reborn, together, and prophecy will be true. They will come back again for love. For each other. But freeing them... will not be easy."

Silence fell like snow.

"He won’t let anyone near," the Seer said, turning away. "Only death will make him release her. Them."

The king straightened, shoulders heavy. "If that’s what it takes to give my son peace... I will do it." Tears streamed from the queen’s eyes as she turned away. Nyla wept openly. Yoongi stood frozen. "Leave me," the king commanded. "None of you should see this." They obeyed, sobbing as they walked out.

Then, alone, the king shifted. Blue scales unfurled as he rose in his dragon form.

He attacked. But Taehyung did not fight back. He held Mili tighter, wings shielding her still body. And in the storm of flame, wind, and magic—the ancient white dragon vanished, taking Mili’s corpse with him.

The chamber burned, crumbling in on itself. And the king lay half-conscious, barely alive, whispering one name through the smoke.

"Taehyung..."
