Chapter 44: CRIMSON OBSESSION

The Rivalry Intensifies

Taehyung's fingers tightened around the newspaper, the sharp edges of the paper cutting into his palm as he glared at the front-page headline:

"SECRETIVE CEO JEON JUNGKOOK TO WED TOP ACTRESS HAN EUNBYUL – THE MOST ANTICIPATED WEDDING OF THE YEAR?"

His jaw locked. His entire body went rigid.

"What the fuck is this?" he hissed, slamming the paper onto his desk. The articles were filled with Eunbyul’s sweet, calculated words—how she had fallen in love with the elusive CEO, how she had waited so long for this moment. It was a story woven for the masses, for the media’s obsession with fairytales.

But Taehyung knew better.

This was bullshit. A well-crafted PR move.

His blood boiled as his mind spun through every possible reason for this sudden news. Had Jungkook agreed to it? Was this a move to push Taehyung away? Or worse—was this Jungkook’s way of showing who was in control?

A dark chuckle left Taehyung’s lips, low and humorless.

"You think this will make me step back? You think this will stop me from sinking my teeth into you, baby boy?" He whispered to himself, a crazed glint in his eyes.

Jimin, standing hesitantly by the doorway, cleared his throat. "You don’t actually believe he’s in love with her, do you?"

Taehyung exhaled sharply through his nose, rubbing his temples. "Of course not. But the world will believe it. And that gives him an advantage." He tilted his head, a wicked smirk forming. "Unless I take it away from him."

Jimin shifted uncomfortably. "Taehyung… don’t do anything reckless."

"Reckless?" Taehyung hummed, leaning back in his chair. "No, Jiminie. This isn’t reckless. This is war."

Across the city, Jungkook leaned against the tinted window of his high-rise office, sipping his coffee as he stared at the chaos unfolding on his phone screen. The headlines were everywhere. His engagement had set the internet on fire.

"She works fast," he mused, his lips twitching in mild amusement.

He hadn't even given her an answer. Han Eunbyul had simply taken it upon herself to announce their so-called engagement, likely for a publicity stunt, to boost her fame and relevance. Not that he cared—it was nothing more than an inconvenience.

At least, until he saw the unread message on his phone.

Kim Taehyung: Are you enjoying this little performance, baby boy? Should I crash the wedding or steal the groom?

Jungkook barked out a laugh, running a tongue over his bottom lip. The possessiveness in Taehyung’s words, the sheer audacity—fuck, it excited him.

He tapped out a response.

Jeon Jungkook: Try it. See what happens.

He didn’t have to wait long for the reply.

Kim Taehyung: I always get what’s mine.

Jungkook exhaled sharply, something dark flickering in his gaze.

He had been toying with Taehyung, testing his limits, making him bend. But now, Taehyung was pushing back harder, his obsession thickening into something dangerous.

And fuck, Jungkook was starting to crave it.

A slow, predatory grin spread across his lips.

Let the game continue.
