Chapter 49: HIS LUNA

Lost in the Shadows

The wind howled through the dense forest, carrying with it the scent of blood and fear. The night stretched around them like an endless abyss, the towering trees creating a prison of shadows. Taehyung’s golden eyes flickered in the darkness, scanning every inch of the path before them.

“Hoseok! Yoongi!” Jungkook’s voice echoed through the trees, desperation lacing his tone. His black wolf form was tense, ears twitching at the slightest sound. They had been searching for hours, but the forest seemed to swallow any trace of their missing packmates.

Taehyung’s jaw clenched. “They couldn’t have gone far. Their scents are still fresh.”

Jungkook exhaled sharply, shifting back into his human form. His violet eyes shone under the moonlight, reflecting both anger and fear. “What if they were taken? Just like Jimin?”

Taehyung refused to consider the worst. “Then we’ll find them, just like we’ll find Jimin.” He placed a reassuring hand on Jungkook’s shoulder. “Come on. We need to keep moving.”

They continued deeper into the forest, their senses heightened. The silence was unnerving, broken only by the occasional rustling of leaves and distant hoots of nocturnal creatures. The further they ventured, the stronger the unease in Taehyung’s chest grew.

Then, suddenly, a faint growl echoed through the trees.

Taehyung and Jungkook froze, their instincts kicking in. Jungkook turned his head sharply towards the sound. “That was Yoongi.”

Without another word, they sprinted in the direction of the growl. The ground beneath them was rough and uneven, but they moved with the agility of predators, their adrenaline fueling their speed.

After minutes of running, they burst into a clearing—and the sight before them made their blood run cold.

Yoongi was on his knees, breathing heavily, his body covered in cuts and dirt. His silver hair was matted with sweat, and his normally sharp eyes were filled with exhaustion. In front of him, Hoseok lay unconscious, his body sprawled across the forest floor.

A group of rogues surrounded them, their eyes glowing with malice.

A low growl rumbled in Taehyung’s chest. “Get away from them.”

The rogues turned their attention to the newcomers, baring their teeth. One of them, a massive, scarred wolf, stepped forward. “You should leave while you can, Alpha. This doesn’t concern you.”

Jungkook scoffed, his hands clenching into fists. “You took our pack members. That makes it our concern.”

Yoongi coughed, forcing himself onto his feet. “They’re working with someone. They weren’t just hunting for sport.”

Taehyung narrowed his eyes. “Who sent you?”

The scarred rogue smirked. “You already know.”

Rage flared inside Taehyung. “Woosik.”

The rogue’s smirk widened. “The True Blood Alpha finally understands.”

Taehyung didn’t wait for another word. With lightning speed, he shifted into his wolf form and lunged. The battle erupted instantly, the air thick with growls and snarls. Jungkook followed suit, his black wolf tearing through the nearest rogue with unmatched ferocity.

Yoongi, despite his exhaustion, forced himself to fight, his sharp claws slashing at the enemy. Hoseok, still unconscious, remained vulnerable, but Taehyung made sure to keep an eye on him as he fought.

One by one, the rogues fell. Blood splattered the ground, their cries of pain filling the air before silence swallowed them whole.

Breathing heavily, Taehyung turned toward Yoongi. “Are you alright?”

Yoongi wiped the blood from his lips, nodding. “Barely. But we need to get Hoseok out of here.”

Jungkook crouched beside Hoseok, checking his pulse. “He’s alive, but he needs healing. Let’s get back to the pack.”

Taehyung let out a low breath, his eyes still blazing with anger. “This was just the beginning. Woosik is testing us.”

Jungkook met his gaze, determination shining in his violet eyes. “Then let’s make sure he regrets it.”

With that, they lifted Hoseok and disappeared into the shadows of the forest, knowing that the real battle had only just begun.
