Chapter 55: HIS LUNA
The Trap
Jungkook wiped the sweat off his forehead, his
muscles burning from hours of relentless training. The weight of the war loomed
over him, but he refused to be weak. He had to be stronger—for Taehyung, for
the pack, for everyone relying on them.
The sun was beginning to dip behind the
treetops when an unfamiliar alpha approached him, bowing respectfully.
"Luna," the alpha said, keeping his
gaze lowered. "Alpha Taehyung requests your presence near the borders.
There's an urgent matter regarding security."
Jungkook frowned. Taehyung usually mind-linked
him for such matters. Why send someone? Still, he nodded, grabbing a towel to
wipe the dirt from his arms before following the alpha.
As he neared the border, his sharp senses
caught something odd. The scent of Taehyung was there, but faint—almost
unnatural. It felt... off. His instincts screamed at him, but he needed to
confirm. He took cautious steps deeper into the forest, following the scent.
Then it hit him.
Too late.
A sharp shift in the air made him spin around
just in time to see shadows moving between the trees. It was an ambush.
A snarl ripped through Jungkook’s throat as
rogue wolves lunged at him from the darkness. He dodged the first, landing a
brutal kick that sent one crashing into a tree. Claws slashed through the air,
barely missing his face as he twisted, his body moving on pure instinct. He
fought fiercely, his strength overpowering them—but there were too many.
He tried to mind-link Taehyung.
Taehyung! It’s a trap—
Pain exploded in his skull. The link
shattered.
Jungkook gasped, staggering as an invisible
force burned through his mind. Black magic. His connection to Taehyung
was severed completely.
A growl rumbled from deep within him as he
struck down another rogue, but his body felt heavier. The scent of something
acrid filled his nose—poison. His vision blurred for a split second, and that
was all it took.
A heavy blow struck his side, sending him
crashing to the ground. Claws dug into his arms, pinning him down. Jungkook
roared, trying to fight back, but his limbs felt sluggish, his wolf struggling
to surface.
His breath hitched as a figure stepped into
view—a cloaked man with eyes black as night, chanting in a language that made
Jungkook’s head throb.
The rogues tightened their grip, and his body
refused to move.
No. No. No.
His last thought was of Taehyung before
darkness swallowed him whole.
Three Days Later.
Taehyung stood at the edge of the forest, his
golden eyes glowing with barely contained rage. His body was rigid, hands
curled into fists so tight his claws had pierced his own palms. Jungkook’s
scent—his mate, his Luna—had disappeared without a single trace.
It was impossible. Wolves always left behind
scents, trails to follow. But there was nothing. As if Jungkook had never been
there at all.
For three days, Taehyung hadn’t slept, hadn’t
eaten. He had torn through the forest, through rogue hideouts, through enemy
camps—nothing. The pack was on high alert, warriors searching day and night,
but every lead turned cold.
His mate was gone.
And Taehyung was losing his mind.
The witches had also joined the search, their
spells stretching far and wide, but even their magic was met with eerie
silence. No traces, no clues. It was as if Jungkook had been swallowed by the
darkness itself.
Namjoon placed a firm hand on Taehyung’s
shoulder. "We will find him."
Taehyung exhaled sharply, his voice guttural
with barely suppressed rage. "They took my mate. They severed our
link. They erased his scent."
His wolf was howling inside him, aching to rip
apart whoever had done this. Whoever had dared touch his Jungkook.
He turned, his golden eyes burning with fury.
"I don't care what it takes. I will find him. And I will destroy anyone
who stands in my way."
