Chapter 62: HIS LUNA
A New Dawn and a Hidden Life
The scent of burning wood and damp earth lingered in the air, a stark
reminder of the war they had just endured. The once-bloodstained battlefield
was now silent, save for the distant howls of their warriors ensuring no rogue
threats remained. The sky, once shrouded in ominous darkness, welcomed the
first rays of golden sunlight, bathing the land in a warm embrace.
Back at the pack’s territory, healers and witches worked tirelessly, tending
to the wounded. The warriors who had fought bravely now lay in the pack house,
their bodies bruised and battered but their spirits unwavering. The war had
ended, but its scars would take time to heal.
Inside the Alpha’s chamber, Taehyung sat by the bed, his gaze never leaving
the sleeping figure of his mate. Jungkook, his Luna, had fought relentlessly,
standing beside him till the very end. The battle had taken a toll on him—his
body bore wounds, but it was his exhaustion that worried Taehyung the most.
A gentle knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts. Namjoon entered,
his usual composed demeanor softened. “The warriors are stable. The witches are
still reinforcing our borders. Hoseok and Yoongi are handling the arrangements
for the fallen.”
Taehyung nodded. “And the rest of the pack?”
“They’re resting. There’s a sense of peace among them, Taehyung,” Namjoon
said. “For the first time in a long time, they’re not living in fear.”
A small smile played on Taehyung’s lips. “That’s all we ever wanted.”
Namjoon patted his shoulder before leaving. As the door clicked shut, a soft
groan escaped Jungkook’s lips. Taehyung immediately leaned in, brushing stray
strands of hair from his mate’s forehead. “You’re awake,” he whispered.
Jungkook blinked, his violet eyes still hazy with sleep. “Taehyung…”
“I’m here,” Taehyung reassured, pressing a soft kiss to Jungkook’s temple.
Jungkook sighed, nuzzling into his touch. He stayed quiet for a moment
before he spoke, voice uncertain. “Taehyung… there’s something I need to tell
you.”
Taehyung frowned at the shift in Jungkook’s tone. “What is it?”
Jungkook took a shaky breath, his fingers curling around Taehyung’s wrist.
“I— I don’t know how to say this… but I think—” he hesitated, looking away as
if gathering courage.
Taehyung gently cupped his chin, urging him to meet his gaze. “Kook,
whatever it is, you can tell me.”
Jungkook swallowed before whispering, “I think I’m pregnant.”
Silence.
Taehyung’s breath hitched. His golden eyes widened, searching Jungkook’s
face for any sign of jest, but all he found was nervousness and something
else—hope.
Jungkook bit his lip, his fingers unconsciously rubbing over his stomach.
“Woosik… he figured it out before me. That’s why he—” He stopped, unwilling to
relive the horrors of his captivity. “I didn’t realize until I felt my wolf’s
presence return… I don’t know how, but I just— I know.”
Taehyung exhaled sharply, his heart pounding in his chest. He was going to
be a father. Their child—born of a bond stronger than fate itself—was growing
inside his mate.
A slow, almost disbelieving smile broke across Taehyung’s lips before he
pulled Jungkook into a firm embrace. “We’re having a pup,” he whispered against
Jungkook’s hair, voice filled with awe.
Jungkook nodded against his chest, his grip tightening around Taehyung. “We
are.”
Taehyung pulled back slightly, pressing a lingering kiss to Jungkook’s
forehead. “You have no idea how happy you’ve made me.”
Jungkook chuckled softly. “I had a feeling you’d be insufferable about
this.”
Taehyung smirked. “Oh, absolutely. My mate is pregnant with my pup. I’ll be
the most overprotective Alpha in history.”
Jungkook groaned, already predicting the hovering that would come. But deep
down, warmth filled his chest. After everything they had endured, they were
finally stepping into a future they had fought so hard to protect.
For the first time in years, peace wasn’t just a distant dream—it was their
reality.
Taehyung shifted, his golden eyes darkening slightly as he leaned closer.
“But first,” he murmured, his fingers grazing over Jungkook’s exposed wounds,
“I need to take care of you.”
Jungkook shivered at the sudden shift in Taehyung’s aura. “Tae…” he began,
but the words died on his tongue as Taehyung dipped his head, his warm breath
ghosting over a deep scratch on Jungkook’s collarbone.
With deliberate slowness, Taehyung licked over the wound, his tongue warm
and soothing as the healing properties of a Trueblood Alpha took effect. The
gash mended almost instantly, but Taehyung didn’t stop. He moved lower, tracing
another wound near Jungkook’s ribs, pressing open-mouthed kisses between each
stroke of his tongue.
A soft whimper escaped Jungkook’s lips before he could stop it.
Taehyung smirked, his canines grazing lightly against Jungkook’s skin.
“Sensitive, aren’t we?”
Jungkook bit his lip, his cheeks tinged with pink. “You’re doing it on
purpose.”
“Maybe.” Taehyung’s voice was smug, but his eyes were filled with nothing
but devotion as he continued tending to his mate’s wounds in the most intimate
way. His wolf purred in satisfaction as Jungkook’s scent grew calmer, more
relaxed under his touch.
Jungkook sighed, allowing himself to sink into the warmth of his Alpha, the
pleasure of healing mixed with the undeniable bond they shared. As Taehyung
finally finished, he pressed a deep, lingering kiss to Jungkook’s mark, sending
a shiver of pleasure down his spine.
“Rest, my Luna,” Taehyung whispered against his skin. “You’re safe now.”
Jungkook hummed in agreement, his body heavy with exhaustion but his heart
light with love.
For the first time in a long time, he felt truly whole.
